Learners can study for a New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Essentials for free, until 31 December 2022, through eCampus NZ.
This programme will provide the perfect starting point for you to explore a career in IT. The best thing is it won’t cost you a cent.
The Targeted Training and Apprenticeships Fund is supporting learners to undertake vocational education and training without fees. The scheme, which started in July 2020, expires at the end of 2022. The next intake starts on Monday 15 August, so apply now to avoid missing out.
TTAF has been making a range of training and apprenticeship programmes at sub-degree level free for learners.
It is targeted towards industry skill needs where demand from employers for these skills will be high, during New Zealand’s recovery period from the impacts of COVID-19.

You don’t need to apply to access the fund – simply enrol.
This doesn’t impact on your ability to use the Government’s Fees Free scheme for further study (as long as you meet the eligibility criteria).
Additional costs, such as course equipment and materials are not included.
For fees that cover periods beyond this date, these will be apportioned based on the percentage of days or months that occur before 31 December 2022.
From 1 January 2023, funding for industry training will return to its pre-TTAF state, meaning any fees relating to training are covered by the learner and/or their employer.
