For many young people it’s a rite of passage – The Big OE. Travelling and living in destinations around the globe, an OE is designed to help you discover who you are and what you want from life. It is also a time to see the world, learn about different cultures, meet new people and have the time of your life.
The age and time that kiwis choose to take their OE varies. Some choose to wait until they have finished their tertiary education and can head over to seek professional employment or a trade, while others set off the first chance they get – usually straight out of secondary school. There is no right or wrong way, however a common issue with the latter choice is the deferment of study.
What many young people don’t realise is – you can have it all! You can leave for your O.E as soon as the final school bell rings and you can study for your future career – all while seeing the sights and making life long memories. This is all made possible with online learning.
At eCampus NZ you can study for a career in business, retail, project management, education, IT, administration and more, all online and all in the comfort of your own home, an aeroplane or on the back seat of a Contiki bus.
The beauty of online education is its flexible nature and that you don’t have to be stuck in a traditional classroom to get the qualification you need to succeed. You can work, you can travel, lead a busy social life and study part time. You just need access to the internet and a portable laptop or device.
Jo Miles, Sales and Business Development Manager of eCampus NZ, says since the inception of eCampus NZ there have been many students who study while seeing the world.
“Online study gives you a flexibility you just don’t get in a traditional classroom setting. We have had many success stories of students who have travelled while studying and achieved their learning goals. Imagine having the ability to see the Eiffel Tower during the day and then an hour before bed doing some study. It is really that easy,” says Jo.
eCampus NZ will be at the New Zealand Careers Expo talking to school leavers about options for studying online. Come and say hi to the team at any of the following locations:
Christchurch on 9-11 May
Auckland 23-25 May
Wellington 21-22 June
